Water's Edge

Went to the dog pool and stripped to the skin
Then we stood there laughing ‘til
We shivered
Dived in to the water ,the water plays over our skin
Like it ought to
But can’t come in
I’m calling you Daddy
Put your hands down and run
I love you my brothers ,my sisters all
Come to the water
The water plays over our skin like it wants to
but can’t
Come in
I go to the dog hole
And strip to the skin
Baptize me my lover
Pull me on into the water
The water runs under my skin
Where it
Finally
Can begin

Someone New

You do what you say
Then do it again
Do what you have to sometimes
But
Never again
‘til everything’s wrong but still pretty
and I’m in love with you
don’t want to have to do it all again with
someone new
I let myself down
Caught myself out
And wrapped in a white flag
I lost
What I might have had
And both were possessed by a future
Where it had to be you
Who had to go and do it all again with
Someone new
(there’s) times we can’t see what we had
no re-running ,going back
and we failed the test
and would not beg
you left with his tail between your legs
someone new

Happy to Go

If I should stumble and fall
I know I can smile at it all
It's a long drop but
It passes so fast
Did you ever feel a chill, a breath at your back
Down by the sidings, the old railway track
It's the gold mine and
I keep coming back
Work all day and half of the night
'Til I drop or lose my sight
And will I care, no
I'll tie the rest of these wreaths round myself,
be happy to go
Space and time is a mystery
I'm as young as I'll ever be -
Its our last chance as children is
the breath before last
Work all day and half of the night
'Til I drop or lose the gift of sight
And will I care, no
I'll tie the last of these wreaths round myself,
I'll be happy to go.
Work all day and half of the night
'til I drop or lose my sight,
and will I care, no
I'll tie the last of these wreaths round myself
I'll be happy to go.
